No Surprises Act: Protections for Members

To help healthcare consumers avoid surprise medical bills, the No Surprises Act (which was part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021) established new requirements for self-funded group health benefit plans, insurers of fully insured group and individual health benefit plans, doctors and facilities.

The requirements generally become effective for plan years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2022. Full details can be found here.
